Manchester by the Sea (2016)

Depression personified into one of the most organic modern tragedies.

Presentation:

The film is painfully realistic and organic. The film manages to bring intimacy to the main character yet isolating him at the same time. The film succeeds in making you feel cold and understandably alone.

Story:

This is one of the saddest movies i've seen. It has an incredible script with powerful performances from Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams. It doesn't force you to feel one way, but tells the story so bluntly making the devastation hit even harder. You'll really pity the main character and just like life, every goes on. Traumatizing. You'll never forget to check your home again.

Conclusion:

If i wanted to explain depression to a happy person, I'd show them this film. This film managed to capture the essence of trauma and guilt without force feeding you any emotions. But it's an experience of a lifetime, just watch it in the right mood.
