Hell or High Water (2016)

Nothing like a Texas western heist.

Presentation:

If you loved No Country for Old Men, you may have checked out this film due to it’s adjacent themes and settings. It feels as though it could even take place in the same universe. You have a heist in Texas with police trying to crack down on bad guys. The visuals will immerse you in cinematic Texas and the story is also no slouch. It’s not revolutionary but does give us a few inspired scenes that build upon the neo-western genre.

Conclusion:

A film undoubtedly overshadowed by the great No Country for Old Men, this film will be less memorable. But as long as you don’t compare the two, you should find this standalone story great on its own merits. As for heist films, definitely better than you’d expect though lacking the charm of Logan Lucky.
