There Will Be Blood (2007)

One of the greatest modern dramas and one of the finest performances from a legendary actor.

Presentation:

This film is strikingly beautiful for 2007. The use of film really looks lovely capturing the beauty of landscapes and oil wells. Daniel Day Lewis exists in this role demanding why he is considered one of the greatest actors. This drama is riveting and so quotable. The performance from Paul Dano and the Lewis are a gift to cinema as Paul Thomas Anderson gives us a violently ruthless script. Every moment of screentime with Lewis is an actual blessing as he commands your attention, it's almost like stage acting. This is a future classic if it isnt already as it encompasses so many American values like family, hate, madness, capitalism, exploitation, everything that could make a drama explode.

Conclusion:

If you wanted to know what good acting looks like, here it is. This is a classic that embodies the core of what started cinema.
