Ford V Ferrari (2019)

More than just a race.

Presentation:

One of the better racing films in recent memory that lifts off. Racing is generally difficult to viscerally capture without CGI, but this film does a very good job with it. The races are tense, fast and feel realistic, which is should be the hero of any racing film. Although it is clearly marketed as a family friendly blockbuster, the performances and chemistry between Matt Damon and Christian Bale are genuine. There’s one scene that’s a bit overly dramatic for comedic effect, but the film never steers far from the main road and is always in the driver seat.

Conclusion:

A racing film that is exactly what you bargained for, and maybe even a little more. Christian Bale is just so easy to root for and the characters are well developed. An entertaining and fulfilling story for all audiences that stays cohesive without skipping a beat.
