A romantic take with Tarantino LA Noir sensibilities.

Presentation:

The film is wonderfully presented in a gritty, stylized and nostalgic way. Has the violence and brutality of a Tarantino film but the romance of a slow heart touching drama. Gosling plays a relatable lead convincing you of a man capable of true love and brutality. It's impressive how much he overshadows oscar winning Oscar Isaac. The cinematography is very unique, and you'll only understand why once you breakdown scenes realizing that the film avoids center framing.

Conclusion:

This is one of the more stylized films with a ton of feeling, not to mentioned a great script. There is so much chemistry between the two leads with a very emotional impact making this one of the more memorable films with a great score and one of the best slow motion sequences in memory.
