A Korean War veteran criminal pleads insanity and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rallies up the scared patients against the tyrannical nurse. This is all you need to read in order to know if you’ll enjoy this film. It gives exactly what the interesting premise promises and more. Jack Nicholson delivers one is his more memorable performances with the engrossing script. Despite being made in 1975, the story feels so relevant. But due to realism and modern awareness of the law, a film with this idea couldn’t be made in the same way today. This film captures the magic of older films due to nailing the fundamentals of any movie. The plot, the characters, the dialogue are all enjoyable to watch and should stay that way for decades to come. Truly a classic that won’t go out of style to be viewed over and over again.
