Garden State (2004)

American teenage transient love.

Presentation:

I think this film is lightning in the bottle capturing a very specific sentiment that anyone with depression should instantly empathize. It has the lonelieness of Lost in Translation mixed with teenage love and confusion, which is perhaps more relevant today than ever, except in a different culture and setting.

Conclusion:

This film has a very striking soundtrack that stays in your memory. Many of the films in the early 2000s have similar themes of disillusionment, but none that i can remember so aptly capture the emotion so well from the perspective of young wild teenagers. There's something very special about this film that latches onto you, sometimes resurfacing when you least expect it.
