American Psycho (2000)

Psychopathy has never been so hilarious.

Presentation:

Spawning endless memes, Christian Bale gambles his career and image on a psychopathic banker hiding his violent hedonistic persona. The film captures the psychopathy, the obsession, the drive, the instability of what could actually make for a metropolitan Joker. The film exudes literature in some ways, with wit, dark humor, satire and a very clear vision. Whether it accomplishes that vision is up for debate.

Conclusion:

I quite love the idea of this film more than the story itself. The plot is not really easy to understand and kinda ambiguous. To be honest I didn't fully understand it, but did I really need to? I have a feeling many are in the same boat, but i argue it doesn't matter much when the film is more about the psychology and mind of Patrick Bateman, which is executed so iconically. Amazing performance, now let's see Paul Allen's review.
