Presentation:

Ireland feels like a dream here, and you want to visit despite it being a wastetown according to the locals. The film is shot beautifully and the film really brings you back to this era and time in history of the Irish war. The story has a few laugh out loud moments in a dark way. It's quite grand, aye.

Story:

Colin Farrell successfully delivers a beloved village idiot here and Brendan Gleeson also delivers the pretentious foil. It's an endearing struggle to reacquaint the two, and you'd wish they would just make up like the struggles of Ireland. The film becomes more and more enjoyable when see the parallels and you get some dark comedy in the process.

Conclusion:

A dark comic love letter to Ireland, and you can't help but fall in love as well. It may require a bit of knowledge of Ireland's history to really appreciate the film, but the performances will sweep you away. You'll wish you could get fluthered in an Irish pub and order a pint of Guinness.
