The Card Counter (2021)

A boring film, but a showcase of Oscar Isaacs ability.

Presentation:

Standard cinematography makes the film feel truly grounded in reality. Nothing special but still captures the intimate relationships.

Conclusion:

If you were expecting an exciting gambling film, this is not it. The card counting just so happens to be an excuse for the real story between a man trying to mentor a similarly lost soul. The film is dreadfully slow, but the performance form Oscar Isaac might keep you emotionally invested enough. Slow but impressive performance from Oscar Isaac as always. Goes to show how one performance can singlehandedly carry a film.
