2000s thrillers were something else.

Presentation:

Fincherโ€™s omniscient and precise camera movement really starts to become polished for a very memorable thriller for its time. Kristen Stewart and Jodie Foster are great for their roles and itโ€™s so interesting to see Stewart so young and even grow taller than Foster toward the end of the film. The premise is a recipe for success, two people trapped in their panic room. Itโ€™s nearly impossible to not make a compelling film with this plot and the film, which Fincher accomplishes, right up until the ending. Reminiscent of Phone booth, which came out the same year.

Conclusion:

A tense stalemate, the film builds and builds for the entire movie keeping you on the edge of the seat up. However, the ending feels like a convenient and disappointing cop out, largely because the plots development is so strong. If only it could finish the same. Itโ€™s not one of Fincherโ€™s best films, but itโ€™ll still satisfy your thriller fix.
