Time travel, cyberpunk, everything sci-fi fans will love.

Presentation:

This film is DP Steve Yedlinโ€™s best work. For a sci-fi film in 2012, this film raised the bar and offered a slick and engaging story that should resonate with those that donโ€™t care for the genre. The film looks quite good, lit with natural balance and is even framed well. Rian Johnson creates a believable world that would normally be shallow, but thereโ€™s actually a bit of heart in this film. Although I liked the casting, it did feel awkward at times especially as Joseph Gordon Levitt with blues eyes doesnโ€™t exactly match up to Bruce Willis. Emily Blunt surprisingly throws us for a loop with her character as well, though she surprisingly nails her emotional role.

Conclusion:

This is a sci-fi film that I wouldnโ€™t mind watching 2 or more times, which is quite rare. Normally these kinds of films are spectacles, but this one definitely has a spark of brilliance with an original script. Itโ€™s a wonder that there isnโ€™t a sequel, but this wouldnโ€™t be the first time that has happened for popular sci-fi films such as Push or Jumper. But this film is definitely higher quality and is deserving of expanding the universe. Time will tellโ€ฆ
