Boyhood (2014)

One of the only movies to span decades just to film an epic coming of age tale.

Presentation:

The film stays consistent for this unique drama despite spanning decades in order to capture the real-time growth of a boy into teenager. The film is raw and intimate but loses a bit of charm with some mediocre and standard shots that maybe you would see from a TV drama. This is an extremely unique film as spans over a decade to film. The lead feels like an ordinary boy with no acting experience, everything is pretty organic with the exception of some forced drama scenes. It's painstakingly natural, which leads to a true coming of age story where you actually watch the boy grow up. However, this ends up being more observational than entertaining as the plot is realistically boring.

Conclusion:

I doubt there will be another film like this. It's a novel concept that most wouldnt bother to do, I just wish they did something more with it so it's an entertaining story rather than a focus of storytelling mechanics.
