The Dark Knight (2008)

One of the most iconic crime films happens to be a man running around in a cape.

Presentation:

Legendary performance from Heath Ledger as the Joker, arguably surpassing A Clockwork Orange, is so captivating that actors, audiences and films will perpetually be inspired by one of Nolan's most gripping scripts. An iconic opening sequence and script demonstrate that you don't need fascinating cinematography to make a great film as the grade and style are very neutral. Ledger's performance completely overshadows Bale's Batman, whom delivers the heart of this film. Unpredictable twists and turns make the first viewing of this epic spectacle an experience of a lifetime.

Conclusion:

This is the best comic book hero movie of all time, and one of the most compelling scripts too. It's a shame that Ledger left so soon, leaving a lackluster ending to the trilogy, but this film stands alone as one of the greatest sequels of all time to an already incredible Batman Begins.
