The story follows a troubled family with some dark past that rapidly reaches a satisfying climax. At the heart of the film, you would expect the film to linger on some of the difficult themes of parenting but the film never shoves it down your throat nor forgets its role in entertaining you. This film engrosses you and is one of the best A24 films in recent times. What's wild is you actually begin to form an emotional connection to the characters right before all shit hits the fan, which a typical horror film has no right to do. It's impressive how well the struggles between mother and son are portrayed making you invest in their wellbeing. Compelling characters with strong story lead to one of the most recommended horror films of the modern genre.
