Presentation:
Joaquin Phoenix is unrecognizable in a convincing portrayal of a man that would fall in love with AI. The film has soft nostalgic cinematography from Hoytema mostly succeeding in romanticizing and humanizing AI by Scarlett Johansson.
Conclusion:
Another interesting romance that perhaps will become more relevant as technology develops. The film lacks a little bit of depth from stronger films depicting world-weary men. As Joaquin's character isn't fully fleshed out, I personally couldn't sympathize with all his choices, which is unclear whether that is the fault of the film or me.
