The Incredibles (2004)
The moment Pixar animation became cinema.
Presentation:
There are many amazing Pixar movies including WALL-E, Up, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, but none of them were as impressionable on me as The Incredibles. There seemed to be a period where every Pixar film was sheer genius to universal acclaim, but thereโs one that seems to be ubiquitously adored despite each being perfect in its own way. This film was so good, audiences demanded a sequel, which actually didnโt turn out so great. But the original still stands as one of the greatest for its incredible pacing, story and visuals. Motion is silky smooth, characters are all vividly animated with wild personalities. There is not a single bland character even amongst the B characters. Edna Mode will forever be a mood. I think the action and plot even go above and beyond live action films. The action sequences are tight, humor is great, a joy for the family or for mature audiences. This is the moment I feel Pixar started to give Japanese anime a run for its money.
Conclusion:
I believe it was this film that made Pixar films respected by the masses as a form of respectable cinema. The writing is as good as any action film even despite being family friendly. This is a film you can watch again and again and not get bored.
